Inline grammar
Rich text fields carry emphasis, strong, code and links, a code window carries color marks, and an article body carries a Markdown subset.
A rich text field carries four inline forms; every other string renders as plain text, escaped.
The grammar
| Source | Renders |
|---|---|
*a tide* | <em>a tide</em> |
**a tide** | <b>a tide</b> |
`berth` | <code>berth</code> |
[the docs](/docs) | <a href="/docs">the docs</a> |
A statement takes plain words; mark one phrase with *asterisks* and it sets in the accent.
The record behind it is one string: Ask an AI site generator for one edit and it redraws the page. mdxui drew the design once, *so no edit can.*
Which fields
Measured on @mdxui/site@7.0.0-alpha.0 by rendering each string field with *qzx*: 51 fields render the grammar.

Color marks render in terminal.lines, in a window that names no lang, under 7 names: @acc{…}, @cmt{…}, @dim{…}, @ink{…}, @kw{…}, @pass{…}, @str{…}.
Prose
An article body is a Markdown subset. It holds headings of one to three #, lists that open with - or 1., quotes, a --- rule and fenced code. A fence names one of the highlighter languages, so no snippet goes uncolored by accident.
