How mdxui fits a Business
Business, Brand and Theme; Site, Page and Section; Products and Services, Interfaces and renderings: what startupbuilder.dev defines, and what mdxui draws.
startupbuilder.dev defines the Nouns of a Business; mdxui draws the ones a customer sees. A Startup is one kind of Business, so everything here holds for any Business, and a Startup adds its own layer on top.
A Startup is the smallest business that can be moved, promoted, or sold on its own, with its own Products, Offers, Customers, and P&L.Startup startupbuilder.dev
Business, Brand, Theme
A Business trades under a Brand, and mdxui turns the Brand's look into a Theme.
A Brand is a name, a voice, a logo, and a style under which a Startup makes Offers.Brand startupbuilder.dev
A Theme is the design tokens of a Brand, its color, type, spacing, radius, and motion, that every Component reads when it renders.Theme startupbuilder.dev
An mdxui Theme carries those tokens plus four render policies: how sections divide, whether headings carry markers, how the featured plan stands out, and how icons sit. A record names its Theme in one field, "theme". The Theme contract lists every role.
Site, Page, Section
A Site is a website as a Thing: its Pages, navigation, and Brand, served on one or more Domains.Site startupbuilder.dev
A Page is an addressable page of a Site, of a named type such as pricing, about one Thing or each member of a Collection.Page startupbuilder.dev
A Component is a named block of a Page, such as a hero, a pricing table, or a form, filled from records through typed props.Component startupbuilder.dev

|---|---|---|
| Site | A folder of Page records under one Theme, with a 404 | Ship a Site |
| Page | One record: theme, title, description, frame, 3 to 20 sections | renderPage |

| Component | One entry of sections: its kind, shell and block | One of 27 Section types |
| Brand | The wordmark or mark in nav and footer, and the Theme | Themes |
Products and Services, Interfaces, renderings
A Product is what a Customer gets from a Startup, with a promise the Customer can rely on.Product startupbuilder.dev
A Service is a Product that warrants an outcome, delivered by Agents and Humans under an Outcome Contract.Service startupbuilder.dev
An Interface is how a person or an Agent reaches a Product: an API, MCP server, CLI, SDK, Site, or App.Interface startupbuilder.dev
mdxui draws two Interfaces: the Site, which ships, and the App, which is studied and has no package. One record has several renderings, one per reader:
| Rendering | Reader | Status |
|---|---|---|
| HTML | People, in a browser | Alpha |
| JSON | Agents and tools | Alpha |
| Markdown | Agents that read text | Spec |
| Share image | Feeds and chat previews | Spec |
| Inboxes | Spec |
What stays with the Business
Offers, prices, Customers, Domains and the work behind a Service live in the Business's own records; mdxui shows them only as the words of a page. startupbuilder.dev is where a Business models them.
